Eat Drink Disrupt (EDD) Roots is a women’s wellness and empowerment series held at Salon Salas, a Black-owned, women-led hair and beauty salon in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This six-part, community-based series brings whole food, plant-based lifestyle education into one of our culture’s most trusted spaces. The salon has always represented safety, laughter, connection, and healing.

In the beauty salon, conversation flows freely. It is where women come to exhale, to share, to laugh, and to let their hair down both literally and figuratively. That is why EDD Roots happens there. It meets women exactly where they already feel seen and comfortable.

A nutrition professional leads each visit, joined virtually by a physician who is available for live Q&A and feedback. Together they offer whole food, plant-based tastings, resources from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), and dialogue about how small, everyday changes can protect and restore health.

EDD Roots helps make optimal wellness education accessible and casual, transforming familiar spaces into hub for learning, and laughter, showing that evidence-based health education belongs everywhere our communities gather.
